Dear Parents,
Half term seems
like such a long time ago! The children are already working hard on this term’s
new work and are starting to get very excited about Christmas!
In literacy, we
are exploring poetry before moving on to a unit based on traditional stories.
In maths, we will be doing some data handling before exploring multiplication
and division.
This half term, we
will also be concluding our work on the theme of Houses and Homes. We will be
finishing the science aspect of this (exploring materials) and moving on to
consider the history of houses. At the end of the term, we will then look at
electricity and think about how we can use it safely! In ICT, we will be doing
some word processing whilst in R.E. we will be looking at the Christmas story
and also thinking about other festivals of light which are celebrated at this
time of year.
It’s been very
pleasing to see so many children collecting their reading stars. More children
seem to be reading on a more regular basis – this is very pleasing! Please
continue to encourage your child to read at least three times a week and,
remember, if they read by themselves, they can sign their book. Your child will
also have spellings to practise over the week. Again, please encourage your
child to look at these over the course of the week as they will be tested on
them on Fridays.
As always, if you
have any concerns or worries about your child, please don’t hesitate to come
and see me.
Best wishes,
Jackie Roe
