Dear Parents/Carers,
I hope you all had a restful holiday. This half-term should show an
improvement in the weather, but children will still need their wellies
and a warm coat for outdoor play. Thank you for providing your children
with wellingtons and plimsolls, it has made their lives at Nursery much
more comfortable and has increased their independence.
A big thank you to Mr. Blight who came into the Nursery to talk about
his role as a fire-fighter. The children really enjoyed his visit. Many
thanks to Mrs.Rowling who regularly comes in to Nursery to work with
the children.
It is very important that emergency contact numbers are kept
up-to-date. If your telephone numbers/contacts change please inform
staff immediately. In the case of an emergency it is essential that we
are able to get in touch with parents/guardians promptly.
This term our theme is based on Nursery Rhymes and Traditional Stories.
We will also be learning about the importance of Easter in the
Christian calendar and traditions relating to the festival of Easter.
To encourage children’s writing skills ‘Lucky Ducky’ will be spending a
day with each child. Please make sure that ‘Lucky Ducky’ and the blue
writing journal are returned to Nursery the following morning so that
each child gets a turn.
I will be sending name cards home this half-term for your child to
practise writing his/her name. Correct letter formation is important if
the children are not to get into bad habits, so they will need your
support and guidance. Please do not attempt to do this with your child
if they are tired or not interested. It is more important for the
children to learn to write their names correctly over a long period of
time rather than being able to write their names quickly but forming
the letter shapes inaccurately.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Overfield
