The
last half term of the year has arrived, and for the children in year
four (and I’m sure their parents too) there will be a mixture of
excitement and anxiety at the prospect of moving to middle school.
Well, we certainly have lots of exciting things going on during the
last few weeks to keep all our children busy.
SPORTS DAY & LEAVERS’ ASSEMBLY
Here
are the dates for these important events at the end of the Summer Term.
I know many of you are keen to book the time off work well in advance.
Unfortunately Sports Day relies on the weather, so we can’t guarantee
it will definitely happen on this day.
Sports Day – Wednesday 1st July 9.30am start.
Leavers’ Assembly – Friday 17th July 9.00am start.
HOLIDAY FORMS
Keeping
a good attendance record as a school is very important and is one of
the key areas OFSTED judge a school on. It is therefore very important
that wherever possible, families avoid taking holidays during term
time. In some circumstances the school may be able to authorise a few
days of absence, however before this is possible, a holiday request
form from the office must be completed. We ask that forms are returned
to the school at least 4 weeks before the planned absence.
Whilst
we appreciate that family holidays are expensive during school
holidays, we ask for your continued support in ensuring that our
attendance figures remain healthy.
WHITE POLO SHIRTS
Several
of our parents have commented on the cost of the school polo shirts
with logos and have suggested that we allow pupils to wear plain white
polo shirts as an alternative. We have no problem with this being the
case, especially during the credit crunch. Please do however make sure
that your child’s shirt is plain and sports logo free.
EARLY MORNING LINES
As
a team, the staff felt that early morning lining up was becoming a
little chaotic and children didn’t seem to know what to do. As a
result, we have been making an effort to tighten things up since half
term. As you have probably already gathered the teachers will now
receive their classes from a line on the play ground. Thanks to all
parents for their help in getting their children into line at 8.45am
when the whistle blows.
SWINE FLU
The
school is kept well informed of the situation from Worcester County
Council and they reassure us that there are no concerns at this present
time, either in school or during class trips. Obviously we have
procedures in place to deal with an outbreak and promise to keep you
informed if the situation changes. It is very important that if you
child shows signs of having the flu, that you keep them off school
until the symptoms have passed and notify us. It is also vital that we
have up-to-date contact details, such as home and mobile numbers.
Please let the office know of any changes.
PARENT ANXIETY WORKSHOPS
These
anxiety workshops are open to all parents and will provide great advice
on helping you and your child to cope with the pressures and
responsibilities growing up brings. For further details contact Family
Support Worker, Neil Grimshaw on: 07943872807.
HOLIDAY CLUB AT PERSHORE BAPTIST CHURCH.
The
church is again running their successful holiday club during the first
week of the summer holidays, 20th-24th July. All children from
Reception to year 4 are invited to attend. This year’s theme is

your relatives and neighbours to come along too. Raffle tickets will
