NewsLetter March 2007
CHINESE DAY-
FRIDAY 23rd January
Thankyou
to everyone who supported us during our book fair week. We were so pleased to
see so many children taking part in Chinese Day. They looked absolutely
fantastic in their Chinese costumes and dressed as pigs to celebrate the
Chinese year of the pig! We had a fancy dress parade in the morning, and the
following children won a prize for being the best dressed. They received a gift
voucher to spend at the book fair:
Reception-
Holly Lloyd Cowley, Year 1- George Brooks, Year 2- Tom Lewis, Year 3- Georgina
Griffiths, Year 3/4- Amber Hirons, Year
4- Ed Lloyd Jones.
We
also watched a mixture of reception and year 4 children perform their Chinese
dance ready for the dance festival.
Please look on our web site and see some of the
photographs we took on the day!
BOOK FAIR WEEK AND BOOK STAMPS
A
great big thankyou to all of you who came to Book fair and made it such a
success. We took a massive £ 616, which meant we could have £50 worth of books
for each classroom.
We
are finding that very few children are buying book stamps at the moment., which
is a shame as this is a great way to save up stamps over the weeks and then
spend them at our book fairs. We wondered if this is due to parents not being
able to get into school on Thursday’s after school, when Sharon Young sells
them alongside the uniform.
Therefore we are now going to sell them in the library EVERY MORNING at 8.40 p.m. Mrs Sarah Smith has kindly volunteered to sell the book stamps, so please come along any day and save up your stamps. She will be in the Nursery on Tuesdays. This will start on Monday 5th March outside Reception class.
DANCE FESTIVAL –
THURSDAY 1st MARCH
Well done to all the children who took part
in the Dance Festival at Number 8 Theatre in Pershore. It was lovely to see
some of our year 4 children dancing a beautiful Chinese dance with the younger
children in the reception class.
There were other schools also performing
dances which was a wonderful celebration of the work teachers and children are
doing in dance and the arts.
I
thank Mrs Witts who works so hard with the children to produce dance of such a
high standard.
DANCE PROJECT
In the Autumn term, we were very lucky to
have worked with a talented dance teacher – Liz Crosswell, who has been working
with Miss Hutchinson’s class on a dance project. The year 2 children will also
be going to No. 8 Theatre on the 27th March, to perform their dance
with many other schools. This will be a fantastic opportunity for our children
to perform on a stage, with lots of other children in Pershore. Parents of year
2 children will be hearing more about this nearer the time.

POND UPDATE
As
you know, a group of parents and children along with Bob Green, cleared and
tidied up the pond and put in a new liner last term. During this process the
slabs around the pond were taken up and disturbed. Well thanks to Cathy Davis
and her husband, the slabs have now been laid neatly around the pond, and the
area is beginning to look really good. I wish to thank Mr and Mrs Davis who
gave up their Sunday to complete this work ready for the next stage of the
pond.
RED NOSE DAY – FRIDAY 16th MARCH
We
would like the children to wear something RED on the above day, and some of the
Friends have volunteered to paint the children’s NOSES RED during the day at
school. It will cost 20p to have their noses painted bright red! I hope you
will be able to support this very worthwhile charity. We should have lots of
fun too!
