It
finally feels like spring is in the air and it is so nice to get the
kids outside in the fresh air. Hopefully we have seen the last of the
snow, thanks for your support during the two days we had to close in
February, I’m sure you appreciate how difficult it is to make the
decision to close the school. The safety of the staff and pupils is
always paramount.
MOTHER’S DAY ASSEMBLY
We are having a special Mother’s Day Assembly in school on Friday 20
th
March. All you mums and nans are invited to join us, of course the rest
of the family are also welcome. The assembly will begin at 9am – don’t
forget to bring along a hanky though!
POLLING DAY AT ABBEY PARK MIDDLE SCHOOL
The
polling day will take place on Thursday 4
th June
at Abbey Park Middle School. The middle school will close for the day,
but as our school will remain unaffected it will be open to our
children as usual.
RED NOSE DAY 09
We are supporting this year’s comic relief event by having a ‘Dress up
Silly’ day. Pupils are invited to come to school dressed as daft as
they like; wigs, face paints, red noses and costumes are all welcome.
Please be aware that those children who go swimming on the day will not
be able to go in the pool if they have face paint or hair colour on. We
suggest that pupils bring in a donation of £1 (or a handful of coins)
which we will donate to the charity.
BIKES & SCOOTERS
It is fantastic to see a growing number of our children coming to school
on bikes and scooters, we appreciate this is a great way for our pupils
to get some exercise. We do however request that all bikes and scooters
are stored in a safe place, away from fire exits or walkways, and of
course urge you to lock them up with a chain. Unfortunately, last week,
a bike was taken from the school grounds and was later found dumped in
the park.
PARENT/TEACHER CONSULTATIONS
We will be holding
our Spring Term consultations at school during the week commencing
Monday 23
rd March. Appointments will be made
available most evenings immediately after school, but the late evening
will take place on Thursday 26th, between 3.30 and 6.30pm. A letter
outlining the arrangements in greater detail will be out in the next
couple of days.
FOOD QUESTIONNAIRE
Thank you to the many parents who took the time to complete and return the
recent food questionnaire. The results have now been sent to Pershore
High caterers and we plan to add some new, free items on to the menu.
We will let you know exactly what these will be when things are
finalised. We really hope that by offering a more exciting and healthy
menu that more of our children will begin to have school
lunches.
PARENT COUNCIL
The Council
will be meeting for the first time on Monday 20
th
April at 3.45pm in school. I am still however looking to recruit a
couple more parents. Involvement in the council will not entail giving
up a great deal of your time, but will ensure that the voice of our
parents is truly heard. Please contact the school office if you are
keen to get involved.
FRIEND’S EASTER DISCO (Reception – year 4)
Due to the success of
the Christmas Disco the Friends are having an Easter disco on Friday 20
th
March. The disco will follow the same format as the last one; starting
at 3.30 and finishing at 5pm. The day is also a free, non-uniform day.
A letter giving more details of the event and how to buy tickets will
be sent out by the Friends this week.
HEALTHY LIFESTYLES – FAMILY LEARNING COURSE.
A brand new family
learning programme is due to commence after Easter for parents of all
children. The course is free and will run for 5 weeks, on a Monday
afternoon for 2 hours. We will be inviting parents to sign up before
school on Monday16th March.

We are proud to announce a brand new and exciting new Easter competition.
